A: I used to think that if I was feeling scarce around something (“…not enough, not right, where’s mine, I always get left out, etc….”) that the thing to do would be to pull in and control getting more. That will fill the hole, right? Well, maybe yes and maybe no. Often I was left with a sense of greater emptiness, which was a painful oxymoron to experience.
I have, however, found an even better way to ‘get mine’ and it, strangely enough, involves simply giving it away. That’s right. Whatever it is that I want, I give it to someone else, and I more often than not get the strange fulfilling sense of getting what I wanted all along.
If they are willing to receive it, that is! So then, the question becomes, how do I ensure that the giving and the getting will match up like a lock and key model? I don’t want to dump into an unappreciative black hole. I certainly don’t want to spin my wheels in sand. There’s just too much to do and experience in this lifetime for that foolishness.
Let’s say there’s a Practice with 2 distinct roles that perfectly complement each other. One role let’s call Under and the other role let’s call Over. Before I began this Practice, I both coveted and feared the Under role. That seemed like the dramatic one.; the role with the most spotlight and, therefore in my mind, greatest potential for gratification.
I am so happy to tell you that I have seen the Light that the Over role is the sometimes underappreciated Underdog. (An ironic twist on the names, oui?) When I was mostly in Under, I took for granted the Overs. I thought they should just consider themselves lucky to have an Under to match their Over. They seemed so plentiful and easily replaceable. The practice itself seemed quite simple, and that had me extrapolate that I could always find an Over.
I admit, as an Under, I did become attached to some of the more developed Overs. There was this 95% Over population where I was like, “Eh. It’s fine. It’s all the same.” But that top 5%………holy canoli!!!! That 5% made me see the light at just how lucky the Unders could be! This stubborn resistant wounded little Under was taken to indescribably intensely wonderful places while practicing with experienced and gifted Overs. Wow. Really and truly, Wow.
So that got my attention. And made it worth trying out my hand, as it were, at playing the Over role. It changed my mind about gender dynamics entirely. I, at the core, feared that the Unders were unfairly taking from the Overs. Perhaps. But once I got to feel some of the fascinating sensations available to Overs, the apology decreased and the curiosity increased.
If you would like to:
· feel more energy
· learn more about bodies
· become skilled in connecting with reality exactly as it is in the moment
· learn to speak several non-verbal languages
· just basically be blown away by dynamic natural forces
then I recommend you try this Over role for yourself. I have gotten back what I’ve given more than a hundredfold.
